At some point the Blues are going to have to sit Schwartz, yes he works hard, but he was on the ice for 3 of the Stars goals, goes in circles with the puck, trying to make the perfect play, and or will lose the puck.
I think he is one of the players the team might need to move on from during the off season. I sure it will be a sell low issue, but he it seems like is always hurt or just can not get on a roll.
The step back was to be expected somewhat, however I am still not convinced that Berube is the right coach for this team. I still am not a fan of the dump and chase, and when we lose the system really stands out. Maybe if he is allowed to pick his own assistants instead of the GM, it might make a slight different. I still would like to see a coach like Sheldon Keefe from the Toronto AHL team, younger coach, played in the NHL and coaches a upbeat system more intune with younger players today.

Anyone notice how much this season so far has been a parallel to the Cardinals last season?

Team was expected to be competitive, not necessarily win a division but be in the hunt and a playoff contender.

Team gets off to bad start, bad start continues into a bad middle and can't get out of the malaise.

Team fires the manager, wanting to take a little time and assess the organization and not jump into to full time replacement, hires an interim with sights on finishing out the season and reevaluating everything.

Season muddles along until second to last month of the regular season and team goes on a near historic tear. Now playing out of their minds and actually vaulting themselves into a playoff position and for a few minutes even showing signs of competing for first in the division.

Calendar changes over and magical month is gone and fatigue, injury and play falls back to the median.

I'm hoping that's where it stops and doesn't end where the Cardinal's season ended last year - out of the hunt.

It also should be pointed out that the club eventually removed the interim tag and kept the manager in place.

Does Craig Berube receive the same result?

I'm not sure if this is Berube's system or just the general lack of offensive talent right now, but has anyone noticed the lack of shots between the circles? Everything is coming from the outside and no one if finding any soft spots in the slot.

It comes down to a lack of offensive talent IMO. The Blues are a blue collar team and if they aren't busting their butts and firing on all cylinders they can't compete with top end teams. When everything is clicking they can as we have seen. I think it's pretty much that simple.

Even our top end players as great as they are still a notch below the really elite especially when it comes to offensive production.

They'll be fine. Steen should not be in any team's top six in this league.
Schwartz is having a terrible year. It happens and I don't believe he's age-regressing, I think he's in his head too much; which, sometimes is impossible to escape.

I hope Schwartz turns it around for the rest of the season, and then the Blues deal him in the off-season.

I don't trust him long term anymore. And not just because of this season and his inability to score a goal, with or without a goalie in it.

I don't trust him to stay healthy either. I don't see him worth the cost going forward, I would rather try and pry a younger player from another team for him.

At his cost I wouldn't be so quick to give up on him. When he's right he brings a lot to the table. At just over 5 million a year I'd rather hold on to him for the remaining years of his contract and take my chances that this year is an aboration.

Last year when he was healthy he was imo clearly the blues best player and drove the play of schenn. No doubt though that right now hes terrible and its hard to watch

Schwartz, is this an aberration or is this the new norm? It's become the norm for Steen. Neither can stay healthy. If I'm Armstrong I am buying Steen out and maybe looking to trade Schwartz in the deal. Maybe give Schwaryz till January 1st and then see how he is. His value has to be nothing right now and probably won't improve much the rest of this season

Heard today on the radio Schenn and Perron are cleared to play. I think Schenn is on the trip but Perron still is not flying. Both suffered concussions. But with Perron I wonder how long he might be out with his history. Back to the tinted visor

we need them back badly the team has hit a wall and needs a line or 2 to click. We have went away from how we played over the last month the last 2 games hopefully getting these guys back in the lineup will help get us back to winning.
